Salute!

I emphatically agree with Mechfromhell

This happens when people don't follow tech data when rigging the command servo to the PDU! Never seen it myself but I have heard some first hand accounts! They described it as "sounding expensive." LoL

This is what happens:

The dudes didn't put a "keeper" bolt in the torque tube coming outta the drive motor and upon rotation the tubes slipped apart. This would have been really bad except the awesone FLCS control laws and their "help" allowed me to keep the sucker fairly level.

As pointed out, the LEF's go up if you "bunt". So ol' Gums bunted over and then "locked" the flaps so's other LEF was up. I figured that the closer I could match them, the better. Also didn't want them moving about once I had the bird squared away for approach.

*******

I can tell you that the LEF's did exactly what they were supposed to. Very little buffet, if any, when yanking and banking. "variable camber" was another benefit, as well as the increased stability from better vortex control over/along the fuselage at hi AoA.

My old books show the command to be 15 deg until gear handle raised ( or alt flaps switch used).

later,

why don't you just go down to Phase and ask someone how to do "splines".

...what...?

Hey guys great topic on LEF Operations, I'm new to the phase dock along with a few other guys from the flightline, the other day we were inspecting the Aircraft and found a torque tube rubber bootie sliced open, so 0ur phase dock supervisor decided without T.O ref to remove torque tube on the left LEF just before the Angle drive gear box and replace the booty, he then placed the torque tube back on. when we went to do our flight control check out the flight controls were lock out. My question is can u remove or adjust a LEF torque tube on either wing with without causing this Flight controls to lock out. When had to do a LEF Rerig, this was only suppose to be a simple flight control check out, however the phase doc super only has one yr phase experince and refuse to go by T.O 27jg. Please give advise. Sad

A phase dock super that "refuses" to use tech data with only one year experience??? I think the suggested course of action is obvious... what a tool. Evil or Very Mad
