Laughing Don't laugh, there might be some Navy types that find this interesting. According to this they will consider direct appointments from the U.S.

The Royal New Zealand Navy is Hiring

Despite a quarter century of chill between the U.S. and New Zealand over NZ’s anti-nuclear stance, we just wrapped up a visit of HMNZS Te Kaha here in Japan. As usual, sailors will be sailors, so a lot of official and unofficial exchanges, tours and (ahem) ”social activities” took place. We even had the opportunity to help them with a few repairs that were beyond the capabilities of their ship’s force.

From what I read it seems like they will take folks from any branch. Wow, just the thought of being retired from one and active again in another.... Cheers

I got to see the Te Mana (F111) up close, the sister to the frigate pictured in that post a few months ago when it was visiting Australia. Talked to an officer on duty that was at the gang plank or what ever they call it.

I'm going Australia next Wednesday myself, maybe I will see if they really need an old guy like myself?

Could be fun

Interesting. I can speak from experience that our NZ Armed Forces are really struggling to recruit the numbers needed for all three services. It is probably a nice posting for a ex-Navy sailor from somewhere like the US/UK or Aussie. Can't beat the NZ lifestyle but if you are looking to get rich dont join any of our Armed Forces. The RNZAF has to be the worst in terms of government funding,we get nothing and we dont have our A4 Skyhawks anymore, such a loss and waist of excellent pilots. The NZ Navy is better in that regard.
