Do you think F-16 have any superiority to Chinese latest J10?

Are you serious?! F-16's are the sh*t! they are dependable, accurate and maneuverable, also hard to see. There are very few aircraft in the world that can do what F-16s do.
I heard once in the 80's that Mohamar Khadafi wanted just one F-16!

Seriously, the Chinese seem to have gotten some help from the Israelis on this jet, which looks a lot like their aborted Lavi. I hope the Israelis didn't give them too much help with this project, since they surely know how important the US is to their existence.

I think we can assume the J-10 flown by a competent pilot would be a fair match for a F-16. Opponents of the F-22 always say we don't really need it because nobody can truly challenge us, but the J-10 is a perfect example of why we can't continue to base our security on legacy fighters forever.

The J-10 is an attempt to copy the Eurofighter Typhoon. We figured out that the delta wasn't the way to go back in the 70s. That's fine though, if we ever have to fight China I'd rather have the poor bastards flying those things die for their country.

The J-10 is an attempt to copy the Eurofighter Typhoon? But.....but I think J10 is not a bit like Typhoon.Typhoon has 2 engines and is much bigger then J10. In other words, they would not give their latest technology to Chinese.

if you are talking about air superiority, J-10 will kick any F-16's a$$, even block 52+/E/I.

well, it depends on what you are considering. the J-10 design came as a response o the JSF program. and so did the PAK-FA.. i believe that block like the F-16 E/F or the Israeli Sufa (F-16I) is a very worthy adversary for the J-10. especially that both versions have very advanced radar detection, especially F-16I. so it will be very good against the J-10

The J-10 is an awesome achievement for the Chinese Aerospace Industries, they managed to update their capabilities from the late-50's to middle-80's standards.

Now they have a fighter that can match the best that the West had to offer in 1985 - like the F-15A and F-16C Block 30.

Its Python 3 and Aspide AAM copies, its Russian radar and engine will limit its development potential.

It is a pity for the Chinese that we are in 2007 and not in 1987, then it would be an awesome fighter - not the outdated outclassed and expensive design it is when compared to a F-16D block 50/60/50I.

Its all about the tactics. Not the jet.

True. And tactics are driven by the capabilities of the jet and its weapons systems. So it's actually about both the tactics and the jet.

Chinese Doctrine is certainly based on old Soviet textbooks - and by the time the J-10 matures into an operational fighter it will be so badly outclassed as the MiG-21 is today, the Russians are not giving them much more than the means to use the equipment they sell, all the codes and know how is not being transfered.

I care less about what the jet can do rather than what their missiles can do. Future engagements won't last past the first merge and I have serious doubts about any of them even getting to the merge in the first place. Just one reporter's opinion.
