| Oh man, I've been on 117s too long. One in the nose wheel well and one on the underside of each strake near the wing root for a total of three, right? |

And if you have tanks on there is one on each tank.
EDIT: 2 on each 370 and 1 on the 300. |

| I don't know how it is in the rest of the AF, but we are not allowed to use the grounds on the external tanks if they are installed on the A/C as a means of grounding the entire A/C. |

I agree with Racer181 I have worked A models through block 50's and I didn't notice them in any other location. Also as far as grounding on the tanks everywhere I have been stationed active duty and the ANG in 18 years we could never ground the acft by means of the grounds on the tanks. We only used those when we did an over the wing defuel of the tank or 50 gal refuel for leak and transfers. I'd rather do the wrap around hose than do that. |

That's correct. The external tank grounding receptacles are only to be used to ground external tanks that are not installed on the aircraft, and not for aircraft grounding.
Cheers,

...which never made a bit of sense to me since we do continuity checks and the tanks are connected to the acft.
We don't use the tank grounds either, but I've seen POL use them...and then I have to move them so I don't get in trouble. |
