Did the BAF intercept UFOs or something else in March 1990? There is no answer yet! Did the Americans test special aircraft in the Belgian skies?
Nobody knows but the BAF scrambled two aircrafts from Beauvechain, that's for sure!
You can find more on this site: http://www.chez.com/lesovnis/htm/belgium.htm
If anyone has video tapes about this, it would be great to have this on F-16.net.
Thanks...

I vaguely remember seeing this incident on some UFO documentary years ago. Apologies for not remembering the title. It showed footage of the REO video showing the bogey just kinda loitering around and it's airspeed as somewhere around 200 to 250 KIAS then all of a suddent it zoomed almost immediately to over 780 KIAS...like, in less than 3 seconds, and eventually the radar dropped lock. I don't think the Viper ever got to within visual range. We used to do this in the WST just to kid around with the pilot (the magic of simulation ) but I don't think the video in the TV show was sim footage. |

The Belgian pilots didn't have had visual contact with the undentified objects. They flew over it but didn't see it!
They 've had some brief radar contact with the targets and it seemed the pilots even managed to lock the target but it brought the target on change! Resulting in a break lock and the pilot losing radar contact.
Here you can find what appear to be some radar shots of the fighters chasing UFOs on the night of 30-31 March 1990.

YEP! Those are the screen images I mentioned. Something goin' 780 KIAS at only 6000' MSL would have gotten someone's attention on the ground, no doubt. Unless it was something.......not of this earth? Hmmmm... |
