'Time to throw the rules out and do what was necessary'
Maj. Thomas O. Hanford, two Distinguished Flying Crosses
See: http://www.stripes.com/article.asp?sect ... chive=true
I can remember that he was qualified at Aviano as a FAC-A in a Block 40 with a pod... looks like he put those skills to use flying a Block 50 F-16CJ with no pod. Looks like a good OIF story that needs to be told. |

| I remember that guy. He's the one who had radio contact with Scott O'Grady when he got shot down over Bosnia. |

! I remember T.O. He was a 555th pilot who went over to 31st OG, if I remember correctly. I had the chance to talk to him a few times. Real nice dude.
I was at Aviano when Scott O'Grady was shot down. A friend of mine was working Debrief the day it happened. T.O. was O'Grady's wingman that day. |

No, it was Bob 'Wilbur' Wright (the one who shot 3 Jastreb's ) who was O'Grady's wingman that day. T.O. was the one who, five days later having some fuel to waist, flew a few more minutes in the area and established contact with O'Grady. |

Phil,
You are almost 100% correct. Wilbur Wright aas the FLIGHT LEAD of Scott O'Grady when Scott was shot down. You are correct that TO was the guy who heard O'Grady on the radio; TO's contact got the SAR assets moving that night. |
