Hey guys
I witnessed the crash at Nellis in 2004, I was about 300 yards away. Anyway after checking out some sites there seems to be a computer simulation of the crash out there somewhere. Does any one know where it is?
Here is a link to the article that mentions it.

| I've got it somewhere buried in my hard drive. It may take me awhile to find it though. I can tell you that the accident report shows the frames of most interest...like aircraft position at the time of ejection. Have you already seen it? |

| No not the simulation, but the real thing. I wanted to see how well my memory was vs the real deal. What I remember is seeing the jet take off at a weird angle, a steep slow climb but low alt. then the plane rolled left and than right. At this point my view was blocked by a F-16 tail, but this is when the pilot would have ejected. Next I saw the plane belly flop at the end of the runway and explode. Very impressively! From take off I knew something was wrong and I even had time to plug my ears, thinking the explosion would be loud! Next thing I knew my whole squadron ran out of the building and asked me if the pilot ejected, I said I did not think so and I was glad I was wrong Thank god he ejected, and was ok I would love to see that simulation if you can find it! |

| I can't find it, but your memory is pretty much correct. As I asked before, have you seen the accident report that shows some of the frames in it?? |

Yeah...I saw the animation...Your description sounds about right...Except I remember a significant change in heading while rolling right...just before he ejected the aircraft was sorta going backwards *if* I remember correctly...He ejected almost horizontal...He ejected in the last possible millisecond...
Also...You can see the control surfaces acting wacky just prior to rotation...That was pretty interesting...You see him go into burners then out...seems like all hell breaks loose shortly after that...
This is going from my memory...I could be mistaken...I'd love to come across the animation again...I remember thinking how incredible it was that he made it out... |
