Here is a picture from last Thursday of 86-0355 freshly painted in the new DesMoines paint scheme. This was the only bird out of the 5 that I refueled that had the new scheme. There were 4 other jets, one being 87-0249 still marked with the SI 183rd OG tailflash, another was 87-0296 with an unmarked tail, and the 5th came in and out to fast so I never got a picture, but it too had an unmarked tail, the 6th I believe was 87-0255 but he to was in a hurry to get back to the fight and I never got a picture, but it was still in it's 466th FS markings. I am refuleing them again later in the week and will try to get some more pictures of Des Moines "new" block 30's in their new colors.

Special thanks for documenting and posting that, Elliboom! So I think, at least Jon and Henrik would be Very Happy (related to our F-16 Aircraft Database and BRAC 2005). Can you provide any boomer shots for my OEF/OIF projects (either taken in the CENTCOM AOR or during Coronet East transfer flights)? I would be very grateful for any support!

Thanks for the shot! I think only about 4 jets have received the full Iowa markings, and many of their jets still are in the colors of the previous unit.

Excellent. Got anymore you can share?

Here are a couple more pictures. I have about a thousand more f-16 pictures that I have taken over the years, but most of them are not very good. It's hard to take pictures and do the AR at the same time, so my window for getting good pictures is usually pretty small.

Those pics are great, lucky man! As Jake said, Iowa has only a handful painted in the new scheme, the rest are bare or with 419th's markings on them. When I met the 132nds BG on 6/30 on the ramp, I asked him about how he was gonna paint his bird and he said he hadn't decided yet, I told him a full color tail ala New Mexico's 87-310 would be cool. Hopefully he'll listen.

LOL, dude, I LOVE that scheme! I really do, but I have this weird affinity for SouthWest themed stuff, so i like the blues and yellows and stuff. Tell the truth, there really isn't an ANG scheme I'm gaga over save for 310, California's new jet, Alabama and Springfield.

I know, I know........... it just looks like a bad piece of southwest turquiose swap meet jewelry. I don't know, maybe it's just cause we have to see it everyday.

I dunno....I don't think anybody else's jet captures the "spirit" of their geographical region like y'alls does....maybe OKs and Montana. Its bright for sure, but one of my fav vipers.

As far as the southwest, other than those Scott mentioned, I think Ellington does quite the job (hint hint), and as for the rest, Iowa really capped it off with their new Blk 30's. BTW, IIRC, 249 still belongs to Illinois for a few more years, boring as their markings are....

Well, it's official now. No more dickie bird on the tail for New Mexico. We are reverting back to our boring Block 40 style "NM" tail code. I hope everyone got the pics they wanted.
