If you click on the details about the video, it reads, "This is an investigation of an old crash during a practice dogfight."
Of the two USN F-16 mishaps, neither occurred at NSAWC. |

| Davy: The two F-16N mishaps were before NSAWC was est. I checked the F-16 crash database here, going to '99. No navy vipers are shown to have gone down. Maybe these are AF F-16s. |

Correct, the two USN mishaps were Block 30 aircraft: in 1992, a Miramar jet on a cross country at Twin Falls, ID, and in 1994, a Key West jet at Key West.
While the HUD video is from an F-16, there is no history of any F-16, USAF or USN crashing at the Fallon range. Since the info on the video said is was of an "old crash" and not one that happened recently (within the last few days), the aircraft that crashed could not have been an F-16. |

So could it be a Red Flag mishap ? After all, they're both conducted at Nevada (even if it's not Fallon).
It's from ATFS, which is a member here too, so maybe he can pop up and enlighten our craniums ? |

It could be a Red Flag or even a Topgun class tdy at Nellis. Judging from the radio calls there seems to be F-14s and F-18s.
The two bandits are F-16s and are in front of an pursuing F-18. The tacts image show them echelon. the lead f-16 breaks left, the wingman breaks right the goes left also.
by the time the lead is beak to beak with the hornet, the pilot enters gloc.
the actual hud footage is from the wingman. you can see the lead pass left in front of his nose. wingman turns right a few seconds then reverses. the hud symbology looks like an F-16s. the tacts image also shows them as vipers.
whose vipers though? could be navy? af weapons school? ANG? reserve? maybe the students are in the F-16 and the F-18 is the bandit. |

| If this had HUD video it wasn't the jet that went down in Idaho in 92, he was a solo xc joyride. He went by Jimbo, can't remember his last name |

The only loss in Nevada in 1992 was 90-0749. Still trying to determine if the aircraft was a Shaw F-16 or Nellis.
An F-16N crashed in 1992, 86-1686, but that was at Twin Falls, Idaho. |
