| Well put TC... I agree with all of what you said there... From my view I'd say that the Right Stuff still tops Apollo 13 from the point that the Right Stuff covers a much wider spectrum of aviation history. From before Yeager, to Gordon Cooper's flight and everything in between... |

if we are talking about movies with favorite flight sequences and NOT movies that neccesarily are GOOD, then my top 5 would be:
1: Top Gun (Tomcats are pretty)
2: Stealth (the visual representation of shockwaves alone puts it up high)
3: Pearl Harbor (for goodness sakes, they actually took REAL B-25s off of a REAL carrier!)
4: Aviator (that Spruce Goose sequence... man!)
5: Iron Eagle (that Cessna flying was top notch stuff)
For movies that are good as a whole then
1: Aviator (I actually forgot it was Leo after the first 10 minutes)
2: Right Stuff (GREAT movie about the birth of the space age)
3: Flight of the Intruder
4: Pearl Harbor if the love story crud was removed
5: Stealth (it was very entertaining as a story) |

Meathook,
Watch the bonus materials on the 2 disk version - they really did have a lion as a pet in WWI |

They had two lion cubs at one time along with Eugene Bullard the first black combat aviator who was known as " The Black Swallow of Death" |

In no order:
Memphis Belle
Air Force One
Tora! Tora! Tora! (I saw this one when I was very young and I still remember that prop spinning off that blown-up P-40....)
Airplane!
The Final Countdown
Nowdays, I find that being a pilot/military aviation fanatic (has opposed to when I was a kid, when I was a fanatic but didnt' know the first thing about the capabilities of the aircraft) it is much harder for me to enjoy modern movies that include airplanes because I'm overly critical. Prime example: Behind Enemy Lines, the one with Owen Wilson. The sequence where the missiles chase their F-18F. It was just SO off the wall that its dumb! |

I was wondering what your Top 5 aviation movies were
In order:
Tora! Tora! Tora! (Some of the best flying scenes ever, in a movie)
12 O'Clock High (A solid good movie)
The Final Countdown (Nice thought, the USS Nimitz saving Pearl Harbor)
Apollo 13 (One of the great stories, all involved doing their very best to save the crew)
Top Gun (The 'real' star of the movie was the "F-14A Tomcat!)
Honorable Mentions:
Flight of the Intruder (Great book, only a pretty good movie)
Dr. Strangelove (Great satire of the Cold War)
Strategic Air Command (America's innocent days -June Allison, good aerial photography)
Midway (Good aerial photography)
Tuskegee Airmen (I am a 'little' bias on this one)
