Redball Flight Controls Fails Step 4!!!

Hey...I resemble that remark!
We all make mistakes and forget stuff guys...remember that. Doesn't mean us pilots are a bunch of dumba$$. There are a lot of other things involved with a sortie that help distract us from the task at hand sometimes...all we need is a competent voice on the other end to keep us in line every so often! There are a few a-hole pilots and crew chiefs out there though...just like anywhere. We do appreciate all the work you guys do... |

Never said all of ya were...
Believe me I know a lot of Pilots who were sharp as a tack when it came to my systems too.
I had one who went through almost all my tricks before he called a redball for FLCS
So. I can say that Crew Chiefs and anyone else who forgets to hit that one step PROBE HEAT OFF!!! ticked me off even more than the RedBall step 4 guys...

I know I've posted this here somewhere, But back in the 70's at Pease A.F.B. I had my FB-Wonder lemon come out of hanger queen status and take its first flight. So the aircrew pulls in and shuts down. I put the ladder up and expect a laundry list of discrepacies to have to dive into. He says "She's code-1 chief" before I can comment, the Nav. says, "Well almost, we had a mouse in the cocjpit, I saw it run between my feet behind the rudder pedals" I spent the majority of the night standing on my head in the cockpit. I finally got frustrated after about 9 hrs. and finding nothing unusual in the cockpit, so I cleared the write up, and I qoute "Installed Cat" just about the time I made it home and crawled into bed, My supervisor, In all his tact and gentleness was banging on my door telling me to "Get down to the Wing Kings office and explain myself to him". Not my finest hour. |

Why be in the inlet with someone in the seat? Why be in the inlet with power on the jet? If I get in an inlet it will be a dead jet.
Your sheetmetal troop was painfully let down by someone else not doing a safe for electrical power but come on, common sense has to come into play. |

I'm still wondering why UAV pilots still get to wear flight suits! Don't think I'll ever understand that one!
For the same reason that actors wear flight jackets - they want people to think they are super cool. |

I know I've posted this here somewhere before but I feel it is good enough for another. My trainer from the late 70's was in Nam working C-7 Caribou's in TA. They had a Army pilot who must have been a true A$$hole who came thur all the time. Well there is a pilot relief system on the C-7 that works on a venturi system. One day he was in a foul mood and they rotated the the venturi on the outside 180 degrees. When he came back his write up was....."Pilot pissed in piss tube, piss tube pissed on pilot, pilot is pissed off."...
