Depending on local procedures usually 1500'AGL, speed 300knots , 1nm from the runway the tip must be on the runway during downwind.Time separation at about 5'' |

| Here at Luke the pattern is 1500AGL and 300KTS on 3NM initial. We use 7s for the break, hold 80% in the break (2-2.5Gs)and that slows us down nicely to about 250 as we roll out with the wingtip missile rail on the landing runway. Drop the gear abeam your intended landing point, slow to about 200 and initiate your final turn when the first chevron points at you (45 degrees off). Open the boards to the override limit through the turn, keep 80 percent and roll out on final at 1NM, 300AGL, on speed (staple). At this point let the board go and they will end up at 43 degrees. From there, it's a normal landing. That works for me unless there is a hellacious wind or extra spacing needed. |
