Turkish F-16s seen transiting RAF Lakenheath over the weekend. Note markings on all jets are for 132 Filo 'Daggers' from Konya AB. Seems there has been a recent additon of F-16s to this squadron which normally flies F-4Es/(N)F-5 A/B 2000s
Any info welcome.
TuAF F-16C block 40 #91-0017 from 132 Filo is seen coming into land at RAF Lakenheath on July 7th, 2007.
TuAF F-16C block 40 #88-0035 from 132 Filo is seen coming into land at RAF Lakenheath on July 7th, 2007.
TuAF F-16D block 40 #89-0042 from 132 Filo is seen coming into land at RAF Lakenheath on July 7th, 2007.
Further serials noted, but no photos (yet!) available with the 'new' markings were:

Very interesting!!
The 132nd FILO deployed for the out of area TLP at Karup AB, Denmark this past May and is indeed a very new F-16 unit!!
Also note that these pictures show Vipers are flying with the AAQ-14 target pod, but the aircraft are equipped with the WAC HUD - Turkish Vipers have until now been divided into WAC and WAR HUD units with the 161st and 181st FILOs being the WAR HUD units flying full LANTIRN gear.
Greetings,
Henrik. |

| 132. squadron is a Weapons and Tactics squadron of TuAF. Up until last year, the unit was operating F-5/2000 and F-4Es(non-upgraded). Recently, TuAF has made some organizational changes in the force structure, one of them was assinging of 3. generation fighters to the 132.sq. Some F-16 Block-40s transfered permenantly from other F-16 sq...As of now, 132. operates a mix of F-16 Block-40 and F-4E/2020 Terminators(upgraded with new generation avionics and SAR/GMTI capable FCR).... |

Oh, I see. I automatically assumed Nellis. Sorry about that.

Soooo.....maybe it's just me, but that seems like an awfully circuitous route. Did they not have any tanker support? The guys aren't wearin' any cold water survival gear so I'm guessin' the Great Circle route over the Pole was scratched, eh? |

Ya,
Who knows what those guys are going to do next … we had six of them IFE into Lakenheath “BINGO FUEL” returning from Red Flag back in the late ‘90’s early 2000 |
