Another thread mentioned patch collectors and slide swappers, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread on different things people here collect.

I guess everyone knows I collect scale model kits of and books about the F-16, but I was thinking of "non-F-16" collections for this thread. OK, here's my list of OCD's Laughing

- old cars, especially Pontiacs (and Pontiac V-8 motors)

- Sara Hickman is a musician, artist and friend, I collect all her CDs and have more than a few photos... Embarassed

- I also collect things associated with the SR-71.... duh...

Unfortunately my collection of Playboy magazines went away when I collected a wedding ring about ten years ago... Rolling Eyes

OK, who's next Question

Ok h2, since you asked. I've got 'special files' here at the office on the F-16 (who doesn't?!) but I'll confess to 'files' on both F-15 and F-117 and a variety of patches.

A collection of WWII stuff from the RAF Eagle squadrons that includes a childs gasmask from the BoB.

The required collection of unbuilt model kits (that the wife would like to see dissappear)

A collection of Blues and Rock photography

a fairly large collection of music from a certain musician from Freehold, NJ

I collect vinyl record albums. I have about 2500 and they are all in great condition........I still play them. There is something nostalgic about the occasional static pop while listening to them that pleases the ear. BTW they are mostly 60s and 70s rock and roll.

My models make up the bulk of my collection, but I used to collect sports cards.
I also have a collection of three authentic hockey sweaters, King, Maple Leafs and Ducks.

But recently I started collection Jordan F1 teams shirts. I have two authentics, one from 2002, 2003, a 2002 team t-shirt, and a 2001 replica shirt.

I collect collections. At least that is what my Mother used to tell me. I have collections of helmets (only about 10 of those), ejection seats (3, plus tons of parts in the house at the moment, one in Texas, one in California waiting for me to move them), egress systems information (some 7,000-10,000 documents, and thousands of photos), manuals including flight manuals, tank optics, other militaria. By volume though our house is mainly filled with my wife's clothes, and our books. We estimate we have some 20,000 books in about 30 bookcases and stacks all over the house. My wife's art supplies overflow a two car garage, and her clothes overflow is filling an 8x10 shed. The other 8x10 shed is tools, and more books. I have models too, but not too many built. I have several half built. I also have enough instrumentation and parts to make a cockpit simulator, including three F-16 throttles and one F-16 Block 10 FCS. I have three ADIs (one 3 axis, one 2 axis and one Huey) for example.

Overall, we have acheived 'junk-lock'. The house is like a tile puzzle. I can only move something from one spot to another and then back as I slide other stuff around...

I collect model kits, sports cards (late 80's/early 90's baseball, hockey and racing), and replica hockey "sweaters" (I'd call them jerseys, but Habu's eyes would bulge out of his head and he'd go nuts, we had this discussion before, and no Habs, your sweaters aren't a waste of money cause they're authentics).

Hmm, I used to collect sportscards(baseball and basketball). Stopped when it got kinda heavy on the wallet. I have one F-16 model, which has the most messed up paint job in the world. And I have a lot of spare computer parts(old).

I had a small collection of helmets... And the I noticed that I could get a lot of money for used and new helmets. So I made a deal with the SUN (that's what we call the place where they play with helmets and oxygen) guys, and I managed to get my hands on about 25 helmets (most of them brand new in boxes), suits, HUD's, sticks, etc... That sure helped paying for my car Smile You would not believe how much people are willing to pay for all this junk. Now with the salery that we get in the air force, it is only fair that I make a bit on the side!!! So, if anybody want to buy some RDAF items, you know who to ask Wink

I was a course worker at the one and only F1 race in Dallas Texas in 1984(?), I have a piece of a Renault that hit the wall in my corner. Also pics of Lauda, Mansell, and Senna in one of his first F1 races.

It was so hot (how hot was it?) that the asphalt track was melting and disintegrating, marbles off the line were about an inch deep. Conditions were so bad F1 refused to return the next year.

Damn... I didn't know that the race conditions were that bad! I knew that the F1's had been there, but didn't know much about that race... Who won?

If memory serves me right, Mansel passed out from the heat while trying to push his stricken Lotus to the finish line....

I have pics of them laying bags of ice on the asphalt patches put down after practice and before the race, trying to 'cure' the asphalt.

I remember Mansell pushing his Lotus towards the finish line (don't think he made it) but I can't remember who won... I'll look at my 'collection' when I get back home next month.
