I'm currently active duty Air Force, and my husband is active duty Marines. He has a little over a year left in his enlistment, and is interested in joining the Air Force. The only career similar enough to his current one would involve the F-16. I being in a very specialized career field only have a handful of bases I can be stationed at.
I was interested in finding out if anyone has any information or knows of a list of the Active Duty Air Force bases that have F-16 squadrons. Please let me know.
Thanks a lot for your help. |

Try going to the "<a href="modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=listarticles&secid=5">Units</a>" page on this board and scanning the USAF unit listings for each USAF command. It may take some time but it's pretty complete and fairly up to date. Most of units are CONUS-based except the ones in PACAF and USAFE. Just unit and aircraft info only. No contact numbers.
Good luck!!! |

of additional help might be the May Almanac issue of 'Air Force Magazine' (selfless pomotional plug, I know, sorry) the guide to bases section will also have other units that are associated with a base. Could be handy in matching up career fields/bases.
If you can't find one pm me and I'll send you a copy. |

Ace02, I always kept the May issue for that reason. Sadly I haven't had access to a subscription in years...
I think the latest Air Forces Monthly special on the F-16 lists all active users, it is on newsstands everywhere now. Can any of you who already have a copy confirm this? (Habu?) |

Or perhaps someone could just tell you because there aren't that many...
- Cannon
- Shaw
- Mt. Home
- Luke
- Hill
- Eielson
- Spang
- Aviano
- Misawa
- Osan
- Kunsan
Wait a year and see how different that list becomes. |

Don't know if this link will help, but has lots of USAF information.
Choose an almanac for 2003 when you get there.
http://www.afa.org/magazine/almanacs.asp
For all you with "Active-Duty-Blinders" on, don't forget about the MANY ANG F-16 units.
An active duty member who has completed their "minimum requirements" for their job field can apply for the "Palace Chase" program, that would release them for active duty and transfer them to the ANG of their choosing. Many ANG bases would be within a "reasonable" distance from anywhere in the US.
The ANG has almost half (570) of the US' 1391 F-16s (USAF has 751, USAFR has 70)
Then again you may want to wait until after the BRAC in 2005? There may only be half of those!? |

| Also, a very recent issue of Combat Aircraft Magazine has the listing of all the bases on every airframe for Active, Reserve, and Guard. |

I was active duty myself, and never realized how many ANG bases were out there.
If knew then what I know now, life would have been MUCH different!
Besides, if they can't find an active duty base that will work, maybe an ANG unit could help them out? |

I'm right there with you Bix---I'm a former RAFSOB turned ANG.
Another thing to keep in mind (if you're avionics at least) is that the career field also includes the F-117 at Holloman, NM, the C/V-22, and the R/Q-1. |

| What "specialized" career field are you in? Depending on what career field will also narrow that list to perhaps only 1 or 2 bases. |
