The golden canopy from what I`ve read was a mesurement taken to help avoid the sunglare giving away the position of the fighter when airborn. This does however interfere with some of the electronics onboard connected to the JHMCS and will eventually be removed.
There is basically no standard for who has or hasn`t got a coloured canopy (any colour) but more and more are moving towards a 100% clear canopy these days.  |

Still haven`t seen any RNoAF vipers with anything bigger than GBU-12's, so that would be awesome  |
