| The SU-35/37 has thrust vectoring nozzles? I think that's what I saw in the video. |

| If you saw the discovery channel's programe "Extream Machines". They made one about fighters, they shot a Su-37, doing some unbelieveable things, one is when the aircraft is going up high, it literarly stands still on it tall and then it rolls backwards, get into its old position then complete its cruise, no fighter has that capability except the Typhoon, a good advantage during dogfights. |

| Not really as you loose all your energy doing stuff like that. The Cobra and such are a great way for a pilot on the SU's six to get a close range GUN kill!! Does look cool. Now apply parts of those moves at higher speed in order to sling your nose around faster would be an advantage. As long as it didn;t eat up to much energy in the process. Of course the SU has those big @$$ engines so it can gain energy pretty dam quick. |

My thoughts exactly... I've actually seen flight sims where enemy Su-37s can pull a cobra in a knife fight, but It's very easy to ventilate his cockpit with a little 20 mike-mike
If I may borrow a quote:
I'm waiting to be told how cobras, hooks, or vectored thrust help in combat. They're great at air shows, but zero energy is a fighter pilot's nightmare. Shoot your opponent down and his number two will be on your tail thinking it's his birthday - a target hanging there in the sky with zero energy. -- Ned Firth of Eurofighter at Farnborough '94
BTW that IS an Su-37 in the vid.... the tailnumber 711 gives it away... |

| Since the video collection of this site has been closed (I think due to brandwith problems) I suggest you to visit http://videos.f16techs.com/. I know most of you know this site, but it has been updated with some cool SU-35 videos. Enjoy! |

Zero energy? Well, but it gets it back while diving back! Eurofighter pilots told stuff about the uselessness of that maneuvers because by that time EF couldn't perform something like Flanker did. And it's still uncapable of doing most of those things. Let's open a new topic - say, Superagility and its usefulness, ah? Remember that "scissors" maneuver performed by f-14 tomcats? Or fightings Mirage vs. Sea Harrier? they advisedly turned dogfighting to lower speed so they could perform better. There's always an option! What I can tell you is that western fighters usually have more powerful engines but worse aerodynamics - that's my opinion as I have seen western and russian fighters of the same class right one after another performing their best at an airshow.
Yes, 711 is definetely a Su-37 but I have one more thing to tell you - NONE of military pilots in Russia can perform things Su-37 does. Eugeny Frolov who flies the bird is a civilian pilot and flies for developing company, not for AF. Besides, have you ever seen Frolov's chakra? Su-37 flies straight with low speed, starts performing a ususal Cobra but suddenly turns 360 degrees round his transversal axe and continues to fly straight and forward as if nothing has happened! SUPER!!!!
What concerns Berkut according to my insider's information ITS A DAMNED PIECE OF sh*t! Its MAKS'04 performance had disappointed everybody. They, hehe, couldn't even make him fly over the speed of sound - divergence's too high... |

DerLoos, there is another cool video here!
I have a big favour to ask from you, if it is not too much a trouble. I am wondering do you mind, translating the narration in the clip. It is such a disappointment, not able to understand the description.
Thanks in advance, |
