After reading about the runway closure at Spangdahlem, I couldn't believe what I was reading, that the Big 22 would fly everyday while deployed to Vegas. Talk about a kick in the butt for unit moral.
In the mean time the 23 FS will reduce flying hours and be with there families. I was at Spang the last time they repaved the runway and we flew out of Bitburg for the summer, that was a good deal for everyone. |

Yeah, move everybody over there, get all set up....then the unit goes back to the states for the summer. 'Course, there are worse places to get deployed.
I don't imagine they pay for dependants to stay at the Mirage, huh? |

Yes as part of the Wing redeployment, the 'Hogs' came to Heath. Be a nice chap, go out and rustle me up some patches |

Hello all,
Note that at least the 22nd FS - maybe also the 23rd FS - has begun to fly with the HTS pod on the left intake station and Sniper TGP on the right!!
Greetings,
Henrik. |

Here is a pic on this site that shows that configuration. Just gotta look closely.
Pilots from the 22nd FS taxi F-16 aircraft out to the runway on June 11th, 2007 in preparation for their flight to Nellis AFB. Pilots and crew members from the 22nd FS are deploying to Nellis AFB for the duration of Spangdahlem's runway closure effective until mid-July and the 23rd FS will head to Buechel AB. |

I doubt it..... they have built a TON of VAQ/VOQ barracks at Nellis in the past 10 years....
Plus there are the crappy "Motel 6" type of places right outside the main gate.
It's not like it used to be.....

Probably......I don't think there is a big Red Flag exercise going on right now so there's lots of room at the inn....

| My old man always said that it was best to be in the Guard and get a Nellis trip; as chances would have it you would be staying in the LV Hilton or one of the nicer casinos. |
