DEAR FELLOWS!
here is an interesting situation..4 vipers on an AWACS hunting mission ,AWACS is escorted by 4 F-15C... what would be the out come of engagement..
A TACTICAL DISCUSSION IS INVITED.. no discussion on capabilities of the planes involved coz there r already running such discussions.. |

| If both are on awacs support then it comes about down to fighter element again. F-15 has an edge due to its longer ranged radar and higher altitude ceiling and perfomance. |

| yeah, the AWACS will see the vipers coming a ways off and can vector the Eagles in. |

| i think only 1 viper is required to take out AWACS.rest of 3 can make eagles divert to them selves.if eagles manage to shot down vipers ,one viper can easily take AWACS.eagles may have better radar but the weaapons r same ,having the same range and effect. |

well not really falcon,
Same weapons yes however if the AWACs formation sees them first, the F-15s can get in a better position (speed and altitude) so can throw their weapons further.

usualy at what altitude and speed the awacs is flying?

| speed and alt of AWACS doesnt really matter, the F-15 can power its way to whatever speed/alt it wants for launch before coming in range of the Vipers. THe F-16s would have to try and hug the dirt and do a pop up attack but that would be VERY risky/stupid to say the least. |

leaving the AWACS to atack the vipers would be a tactical mistake...
i think that at least 1 f-15 c should STAY close to AWACS. |

| certainly, if we are talking a 4v4 environment. F-15 can engage 4 targets at once so why send 16 missiles at 4 targets when 12 will do just fine. |

3 eagle*4 amraam= 12 missiles
get the point?
12/4= 33.(3)% kill ratio for AMRAAM
THE f-15c usually carry 6 aim-120 and 2 aim-9.
plus the eagles can fire faster and further than f-16 with the same missile.
i like the f16 but pitting it against the eagle is just not fair ...
only thing to even things up would be the eagles armed With aim-120b
and vipers with aim 120c |

I DON`T KNOW WHY U PEOPLE THINK THAT AN ENCOUNTER MEANS "JUST RUN TOWARD UR ENEMY AND KILL HIM OR BE KILLED".....
IN MY POST I ASKED ALL THE FELLOWS NOT TO DISCUSS THE CAPABILITIES OF PLANES JUST DISCUSS THE TACTICS OF THE BOTH TEAMS......
ASK AN EXPERT AND HE WILL SAY THAT AWACS CAN BE KILLED IN A NUMBER OF WAYS...
THERE WOULD BE HUNDREDS OF WAYS TO DEFEND AND TO ATTACK AWACS...
IF WE CONSIDER UR REPLY AS A UNIVERSAL TRUTH,IT MEANS THAT A NATION WHO HAS 500 F-16S SHOULD NOT FIGHT A NATION WHO HAS 500 F-15S... |
