I'm looking for the complete THK F-16 crash list. These cases are mentioned in the mishaps section, does anyone know more details?
 • January 16, 2004
 • December 22, 2003
 • November 06, 2003
 • March 03, 2000
 • August 25, 1999
Also there are other cases missing...

TIA

 • April 4 2000 ( 2 F-16C's mid air, from Merzifon?)
 • May 24(?) 2000 ( Budur?, from 6th AjU?)
This brings the total to 21 ( two are mid air collisions).

Any more details are welcome...

Total is 20 if you can count...There were 2 seperate mid air collisions both happened at night. The first mid-collison was in 1993, one F-16C survived the accident and return to base, the other F-16 crashed, pilot ejected. The second mid air collison was in April 2000 and both F-16C block-50 crashed, one pilot ejected , other pilot sadly killed.

Collision of Two Turkish F-16s

Date: Mar 03, 2000 - 11:00 PM

There has been an unfortunate collision and crash of two TAF F-16C Block 50 aircraft, from the 151th Squadron of the 5th Main Jet Fighter Base in Merzifon, Turkey.

The aircraft took off for a night training flight at 19:30 hours on 4th (Tuesday) April 2000, and collided at 20.15hrs. while flying in close formation. The fighter (flown by Lt. Gungor Ozer) flying closely above the other one (flown by Cpt. Murat Ozaydìn) somehow lost altitude and collided with the lower flying plane. Both aircraft lost control, and went down on ground as two fireballs.

Lt. Ozer escaped successfully and was recovered with minor wounds by the SAR teams 2-3 hrs. later. Capt. Ozaydìn's partly burned body was found in the vicinity (claimed to be 500 meters away from) of the wreckage of his plane.

The exact nature & reason of the accident has not been yet confirmed by the TAF and it is not also confirmed whether or not any of the planes were carrying HARM pods, etc.

03 Mar 00 + 04 Apr 00 = 2 mid air collisions = 4 F-16's = 21 losses

What are the details for the 1993 mid air collision?

Since the names are the same can we assume its the same case...? If so, why was it posted on F-16.net Articles/Mishaps section one month before being reported to the Turkish press...?

It is very obvious both news articles are refering to the same accident. F-16.net webmaster or responsible person have made a mistake and entered wrong date I can guess, usually web pages are updated very late..The real date of the accident is 05-april-2000. Still if you double count this accident which would be 4 F-16 losses, you dont get 21 but 22...TuAF lost 20 F-16s so far. At least in 4-5 accidents TuAf was not lucky including mid-air collosion in 1993 and 2000. of course night training flights are always risky...

A complete list with names and dates will be helpful, that's why I posted the comments. Now regarding the 1993 case, what are the details...?

PILOT MISSING AFTER F-16 CRASH

An F-16 fighter jet crashed into the mountainous region near the Bucak township of Burdur en route from the Bandύrma 6th Main Jet Base Command Center to the Incirlik base in Adana. The pilot, Captain Aώkύn Sezer, understood to have ejected himself in the last moment, is still missing. Search and rescue operations have been continuing since the plane gave a crashing signal in the radars at 15.45 hours local time, particularly in the environs of the Bucak township, but search and rescue teams could not find the pilot as yet.
