Hi to you all, guys...
I'm about to start the Tamiya 1/48 Block 50 and wanted to build it as an operational Viper in Iraq, with bombs and a target pod. Can I use the Misawa or Spang options from the Tamiya sheet for that? Or the Shaw option from the Hasegawa sheet? Or should I go with an aftermarket decal sheet? Which do you recommend me?
As for the pod, I've read somewhere that Misawa and Shaw are still using Lantirn - which I already have - and also Litening II, but that Spang uses only Sniper... Is that correct?
I really like asymmetric loads... I saw a pic of a Spang Viper with 2xAIM-120 and 1xGBU-31 on the right wing + 1xAIM-9, 1xAIM-120 and what looked like a CBU-?? on the left wing, together with the HTS and an ECM pod on the centerline... Is that "usual"?
Sorry for lots of silly questions... I hope you can help me get some ideas, my head is already aching and couldn't still figure out a lot of things...
Cheers and TIA,
Sergio |

Here's my recently finished build:
It's a Block 40, OIF 1 bird, with assymetric loadout. I used Afterburner decals. The Misaw decals can be used for an OIF bird, just check your references. I suggest the Osprey book. |

Niiiice model!!
I saw that Black Widow sheet on Afterburner's website and loved it, but I'd need some aftermarket items to do it with the Tamiya kit and I'm in a strict budget... That's why I'm trying to go with what I have right know - GBU-12, GBU-31, CBUs (??), Lantirn, ECM pods and the kit's decals for Misawa's 5th AF (92-895) or Spang 52nd FW (91-352) birds.
I was thinking about that book too but, as I said, I'm in a budget...
Thanks!!

| Well like I said, the Misawa jet can be done, no problem. |

Had a few 500lb around from HAS F-4E kit... painted it like a GBU-38 and added two styrene strips at the front of the bomb. |
