I was trying to explain to one of the guys today at work why you shouldn't do a pickled motor run and low E at the same time.. Has anyone here seen someone do it and seen it go wrong?

Haven't done many low energy runs or any perserved end runs yet but not something I would do. Can't remember if the time limit to start on a low energy(GE) is imposed on JFS start or engine start? But all I can picture if something goes wrong is a REALLY big boom.

Real simple, you have a 1 minute time limit to start the engine using the low side ignition system without messing up anything per tech data.

I wouldn't...... They're talking about lighting off a higher flash-point fluid (1010 oil) with LESS spark!? Shocked Duh!?

Pickled engines should not have anything done to them during "depreservation" starts.

About the time the oil lights off, it may blow back out when the fuel hits the combustion chamber. (Combustion chambers aren't exactly stable at this point) The low energy ignition may not have enough to keep it going!

One could get a pop-stall, hung-start, flame-out, or possibly even an internal engine fire.

Explain that to the Propulsion Chief or your Flight Chief.... Bang Head

If your trying this $h1t and over-temp your motor trying to kill requirements with one engine start; you're liable to have one or more "engine guys" give you engine run counseling behind the shop... Slap

Agreed it's a bad idea! Always play it safe with jet engines! Thumb
