Hi Just read an article in Aviation Week saying that the F-22 will perform at Le Bourget next month. Is there any more information about this deployment? The article says that it will be flown from a base in the UK. (Fairford???)

The Article :

http://aviationweek.typepad.com/lebourget/2007/04/index.html

Lets hope they stay long enough for RIAT Very Happy !!!

Looking very forward to see the mighty Raptor here in Europe!

If true. It's likely they will use Lakenheath. Maybe a sign of its future residence on this very base... Wink

On the RIAT front, still no confirmation yet if one/two or none will appear. Lets hope its does as its gonna make it a cracking show with the assortment of exciting participants already listed.

Wonder how many foreign radars will be set up around the city to take a peek? Wink If I was going to take the F-22 to an airshow in a foreign country I'd have so many of those radar enhancers on it it'd look like a friggin' porcupine.

If they would fly the demo with 4 dummy AMRAAMS on the wing stations it would also do the job and give us some nice exotic pictures Whistle

Can't wait till its June!

The operating base will be more than likely Lakenheath; going on past "Paris" deployments there will be no display just a daily flypast. We are also expecting them at RIAT (Fairford) however, not sure yet if just static or flying demo. For RIAT they are expected to go into the Heath early and then transfer to RIAT on the arrivals days.

Air Force’s F-22 won’t go to Paris

By Gayle Putrich
Posted : Thursday May 17, 2007 14:55:31 EDT

The F-22 Raptor won’t make its European debut at this summer’s Paris Air Show, according to U.S. Air Force officials, who say that such a deployment would force them to cancel 40 to 50 pilot-training sorties.

But Maj. Paul Moga, the service’s F-22A demonstration pilot, said the stealthy supercruiser might show up at the Dubai show in November.

The Raptors are based at Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Apparently no decision over RIAT will be made till June!

Hey, if this is the way the French act after the US selling the Lockeed "Have Blue" entrant, we should re-evaluate our relationship with France period! This country has shared a lot of technology with that country. Apollo 13 resides in a french museum not the Air & Space Museum in DC.
But, I am quite sure they won't be the only country that will try and get some ELINT of the F-22 from this visit to Europe.

Do the French have a lot of museums in the United States?? The Apollo 13 Command Module resides in Hutchinson, Kansas.

I wouldn't bet on seeing the F-22 in Europe as there would be no reason to demonstrate it there at any of the major airshows.

Pretty cool place. I visited it on several occasions in my youth. Haven't been there lately, but it has always had a very nice collection of items - especially when you consider its location, geographically.
