Some sources mention Greek and Turkish F-16cs carried AIM-7 Sparrow in the early 1990s - presumably before the AMRAAM was available.
Is this true and does anyone have photos (cannot see any in the Photo Gallery)? |

Hello f164,
The Turkish and Greek F-16s did not carry the AIM-7 during the initial operations. Only the AIM-9s were used and the AIM-120s were added in the mid-1990s.
Only the Egyptian Air Force rely on AIM-7 as BVR missiles as no AIM-120s has been approved by the US yet. AIM-7s are also sometimes still to bee seen on RoCAF/Taiwanese F-16s although the RoCAF has AIM-120s in service now.
Greetings,
Henrik. |

| HAF was using the AIM-7E2/F versions on the F-4E SRAs, but not on the F-4E PI2000 and of course never on the F-16s. |
