It's been awhile but I'm back. I've been trying to get into the BDCP program for about a year now, but had to skip a semester. I definitely want to be in USMC Air Wing, but I just want to know if they're even going to get it. There have been rumors, but not even the Marine aviators I meet at my work know.

Regards

The F-35B is to reach IOC in 2012 with the US marines. However, as with every other jet, the USMC will get their hands on the first aircrafts way before IOC and start flying them to qualify the type for IOC. The first F-35B prototype is expected to take to the skies in mid-2008. The USMC will probably receive their first F-35B in the 2009~2010 time frame.

First gun squadron will be at Yuma in 2011 then Miramar, alternating bases to replace the AV8B and F/A-18 A, D & E's. Don't know what will happen at Cherry Point.

You might get a more detailed answer over at airwarriors.com

That's the Navy and Marine aviation site.
