What really galls me is that there are any number of USAF fighter pilots who have never flown a taildragger.
FYI: there are about 88 USAF pilots currently flying a military taildragger jet aircraft. Not many, but it's not an extinct breed. |

OMG. I can't believe I forgot these planes
The ME-109 and the 110. In my opinion, Germanys greatest warplanes.
Englands finest was the Supermarine Spitfire.
Russias most graceful was the Su-27 |

| Gotta love the p51d, ther is a family model built in australia with a packard merlin that still does the rounds down here and also does joyflights. Also like the australian made boomerang which is an airshow regular also. |

For me the F-14 Tomcat (I mean c'mon how many planes have their own soundtrack)? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0UOZ9NHDsY. the A-10 Warthog. I'm also fond of the F-86 Sabre and the P-51 Mustang. |

I love so many "classic" planes.
But if there's any one I've loved the most throughout the years its the P-51D Mustang. |

| My favorite would be the F-86 which dominated mig alley. A WWII favorite would be the P-51D mustang. I also like any fighter influenced by John boyd (F-15, F-16) |

I love the early versions of two of our classics- namely the P-51B with the Malcom hood like the Spitfire, and the P-47B(?) Razorback version of the Thunderbolt. Sure the visibility wasn't as good, and in the case of the Mustang less armament(only 4 x .50 cals)- but they were classier looking in my eyes. I also loved the P-39 Airacobra and the later King Cobra version as well. Fine aircraft still, and definitely less common for certain. |

I'm gonna have to go with the ground pounders on this one: The P-47 and the Hawker Typhoon. I don't know why, but I've always been a bigger fan of the Jug over the Mustang. It was a dogfighter, a ground pounder, and could take a good beating. As for the Tiffy...that big chin radiator grew on me I always thought it looked cool and menacing. |

| F4-U Corsair. My Grandfather flew them for the VF-17 "Jolly Rogers". He had 4.5 kills (the half is a probable). He was in the last hose nose to leave Bouganville, as it was under attack by the Japs. At a reunion I attended, him and a buddy of his argued over that fact, and they judged it by what was on fire and destroyed on that island. He was a helluva man, and is sadly missed. My Grandpas name was Harold "Bitz" Bitzegaio. |

| Don’t know if you consider it classic, but i think the B-36 is pretty cool, I only wish I could have gotten to see and HEAR one take off!!! A couple of others are the B-25 & B-26 invader, I like the interdiction versions that are packed with forward firing machine guns and cannons, they just look cool! P-38s are cool too... |
