I am taking it that most (I hope all) of us have a thing for the F-16. So I was wounding what classic aircraft everyone is in to??? For me the p-40, F4U Corsair and the good old tiger moth. |

For me, the P-38 has to be my favorite. I love the looks and the performance - both speed and record in combat . |

I'd love to get my hands on a P-51, an ME-109 or a Spitfire.
Going back farther in time - maybe a Sopwith Camel... |

| The P-40, because it was flown by the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers) in China. |

| P-38, my fovorite Uncle Billy flew them in Europe, what an amazing design and sheer raw power it had for its time....it served Allied Forces well. Of course there are many other amazing aircraft in the conflict of WWII but this one is special to me and my family |

| I'm partly with ATC on this one.. For me, it's gotta be either the mighty P-51 Mustang, or one of the later models of the Spitfire... Nothing stirs the blood quite like a V-12 Merlin at full noise.. |

| B-17. My Dad wanted to be a ball gunner (he was little) but flunked the physical and wound up in the infantry. Grew up watching "Twelve O'Clock High" on the TV and then later discovered the movie. |

Bring a tear to my eye why don`t you!! The TSR-2 was a real rocket ship! Nice picture by the way!
Have to go with the early Spitfire and the Mosquito.
Got a real soft spot for the F4U Corsair too! |

| Hands down F4U Corsair, then P-38 Lightning, Then P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang. In that order for fighters, Bombers on the other hand would have to go to the B-17 Flying Fortress |

Great choices, everyone !
One of the planes that I think might have been overlooked is the mighty B-36 Peacemaker - Six Turnin' and Four Burnin'!
I personally think that the A-12 and SR-71 both qualify as classics and get my vote .
I'd also like to salute those classics that continue to serve in the U.S. - and not just the older folks on the flightline . Here's to the KC-135 Stratotanker, U-2 Dragonlady, B-52 Stratofortress, and the C-130 Hercules !
Of course, I can't forget the F-104 Starfighter ! |
