| Habu, did you see this in person or in a staged night photo? If the latter I would not be inclined to trust it - photographers tend to add dramatic effects to such shots thru lighting and/or filters. Many night shots show the interior of the inlet illuminated and we all know there are no lights in there. |

| Saw it in person, and I've shown the photographic evidence. |

| I just went and checked about half of my jets. Without a doubt the logo lights are white. Here is the part number MS 25309-600 its just a standard 6.2 volt light. The bulb is the same whether or not it is a USAF aircraft with NVIS 1C a USAF without NVIS 5D or an export aircraft YD / RD. As far as being a different colors. The NVIS lighting is practically invisible to the naked eye. To see it you have to be in the dark and have a NVIS scope. Its a preflight check on all production aircraft and I've done it numerous times. As far as the color you see that has to be chocked up to an optical effect. |

If there is an F-16 in production foreign or domestic production, (including the T-birds) and there is a photo of one having a red logo light someone please produce it. I want to see it, this has been an on going discussion in my office.
As far as the NVIS portion of the light, it has an IR emiter the same as all the other external lights do. Why its green, I couldn't say. However the upper flood light for the IFR function is also green instead of white, as is the "tail or missle" light on the back. The formation light on the belly and the one aft of the canopy is also green and have IR emiters.
One other light you might not think of is the anti-collision light. It also has an IR emiter, and can change the blink rate. |

Me personally, I have never seen a red logo light. They're white..the cover has a slight tint to it on some. Perhaps the red logo light the Tbird has was suppose to be red. Either for the red white and blue theme they got. Or better yet its red in the same reason the intake lights are different colors. To help the other birds know what side there on? Just my thoughts, could be wrong..happend before |
