Anyone want to guess what's happening in this picture?
Yeah, that's me and my jet.
For bonus points there is something odd about the shelter. This is one of my favorite pictures. To bad it got spoiled in shipment.

Odd location for the ECM pod and isn't the light coming into the shelter from an odd direction? (with the jet 'nosed in' - although we would phase them that way while deployed to Aviano as none of us were all that good at backing...)

| I've seen the ECM pod there for ferrying purposes. It definitely looks like a third gen HAS. |

As far as I can tell the only thing not happening in that picture is work! |

Well...is was TLP. The Tactical Leadership Program. In the course syllabus it was stated that the ground crews should expect long periods of in activity. Our schedule was a 2 turn nothing. Roll call was at breakfast at the Gasthaus we were staying at and if we didn't have to wait for the Germans driving the tug we could get home by 1300.
Any pilots want to chime in on what goes on at TLP? |

| I'd have to say also that it looks like it might be missing its right wing...looks awful close to the side of the shelter...correct? |

| Well let us know...obviously not much is actually happening in the picture. My other guess would be the pilot either just taxied into the side or lost nose wheel steering and hit the side....later, Check |

Let me take a stab at this......Since I worked for you Wayyyyy back when you were a Tsgt and I was a simple airman, I've have to say that you are standing around thinking of the next practial joke to play on your airmen. If that isn't the correct answer, then my next guess would be that you're thinking awefully hard how to explain to the Pro Super why the hell you marshalled the jet into the HAS nose first.
Hanging the ECM pod from either Sta 3 or 7 was common back then for Ferry flights. The Spec flight didn't want to get their knee's dirty installing it down on Sta 5......LOL. |

If so, the jet would have a hell of a lean, especially with a 370 and ECM pod on the left side. |

Yeah it was tipped a little and definitely CAT III in the air. |

| Was this one of those instances where the nose section of the right 370 didn't feed, and was torn off in maneuvering flight? |
