or the "lack of" as it appears.
I listened to a briefing given by DLA today at the F-16 Conference, I was appalled at the excuses I heard for the lack of support given and the speaker had no real answers to questions that were asked to enhance support.
Granted.... it is a new Air Force but the "more with less" has been used for decades, it is getting real old to even hear that expression anymore but of course it is still all too true even today (more then ever).
But to hear how issues like MICAP, Estimated Delivery Dates, Available Stock Status, DLA Computer Integration (multiple systems integration within DLA) their Retirees, their New Employee's Not Trained, the lack of overall "manpower" issues, the listing was endless (or so it seemed) with "no light at the end of the tunnel" to get well. I was discussed and pissed that our government allowed the war fighter to be cut so short.
Then add the fact that if LM Aero is not manufacturing an aircraft production line at the time of a direct purchase request, the contract (when in effect) will mean nothing, so there will be no additional parts support....scary if you ask me. Then, as we all know, since this system is on the way out...parts support is lacking anyway since we supply the globe (per say) of course, we take care of ourselves first but even then, parts are hard to come by as is funding.
I am still pissed about what I heard, F-16 support sucks overall, I can not believe how bad it is, even Tires are in deep trouble....scary times for sure. |

I hate to be the one to say this but, I was told this constantly when I was in. "Do the best you can, with what you've got"
but even like you said, it's frustrating as hell when you can't get the supplies you need to do the job you've been tasked to do from "above"And now its sounds like that job is going to be even tougher. My hat is off to all who still maintain the finest airframe on the planet. Good luck to everyone of you. |

Yep, they do need it.
K-ball must be a way of life now for sure, hanger Kings too (Queens must be the norm these days, in our day, thirty days was hard to explain back then even then the DCM wanted that puppy to be K-balled back into shape to get some hours on it). But like you said Tim, the "Viper" is still one bad "Jose" to fight and maintain. |
