| Before flt inspection last 72 hrs. Walk around inspection last 24 hrs. If I do walk around at 70 hrs, 2 hrs before I hit before flt inspection due at 72hrs. Do I need to do a before flt inspection when I reach 72 hrs or my walk around inspection which I did at 70 hrs still valid? |

| Yes, you need to do a preflight inspection once the 72 hours have expired. The WAI does not preclude a preflight insp. once the 72 hour time frame has expired. On a second note, it is my understanding that a WAI is only good for 6 hours, not completely certain on that point. Anyways after 6 hours if my jet has not flown I do a follow-up WAI just to be sure, especially when I am in a deployed location. When we were in Qatar, our flight chiefs required us to update the WAI every few hours. |

I think i see what you're saying....
WAI accomplished as closely as possilbe to takeoff and remains valid until end of flying day (24 hour max) Most pro supers prefer to do them when the jet will fly within 6-8 hours, otherwise you're updating a preflight.
You have to do a walkaround if its been MORE than 24 hours since BPO/PR |

The pre-flight insp is valid for a 72 hour period, it isn't necessary to update a pre-flight with a WAI until WITHIN 24 hours of flight, the WAI is good for 24 hours not to exceed the original 72 hour period pre-flight. Sounds like the pro-super just wants to keep you guys busy with stuff. You can put off a WAI to the 48th hour to be good for the full 72, just like if it were a week-end duty pre-flight done on sat but won't fly till Monday. |

| I can easily see your problem in understanding all the inspections and time limits. But your preflight will expire, even though you did your walk around 15 minutes before the 72 hour deadline. But if a pilot jumps into your jet 5 minutes before the deadline and start up it`s OK, no matter how long his flight will be. But that will not be the ideal planning. |

We're discussing when to do a walk around. Not what or if we're looking at anything.
When I did my walk around for MY incentive flight, the pilot asked me why I was looking at so many things.
"Because I'm strapping into this one."
After that the pilots got real attentive on incentive flight walk arounds. |

We had a pilot at Nellis in the early 80's who for his walk around inspected darn near everything. Then one day a crew chief told him "Look Sir, you're not buying it only renting it for an hour". From then on he did the quickest walk thur ever.

| I don't care if you're talking about the frequency of the inspections or the inspections themselves, I don't want my jets maintained by <F-16.net>. Go to your QA office. |

Wanna beer? We don't do maintenance at the NCO club either, just talk about it. Like here.
BTW: Can I have a roll call of people who are in F-16 Q.A. right now and those of us who have done time in the QA office? |
