Hi, does anyone know how fast the projectile travels after it is fired from the M61 A1?

Don't forget to add the forward velocity of the aircraft to the muzzle velocity....

Depends on the AMMO. PGU is faster.

About the sentence you don't understand. Just add the speed of the a/c to the speed of the ammo for the total ammo speed. This happens with all foward fired munitions at launch. It really does not matter though because the projectile is slowing down as soon as it leaves the barrel.
