About 180,000 people are expected to attend AirPower over Hampton Roads 2007, Langley´s annual air show, also known as an open house, which is scheduled for April 27 through 29 along the flightline.
According to the "Air Show 2007 Newsletter #1", released by 1st FW PA, Maj. Paul Moga, F-22 demo pilot, will take to the sky with a sneak peak into the 2008 demo season. "This is a big year for the Air Force and the F-22 Demo Team," he said. "The folks in the Langley community are used to seeing Raptors grace the skies around the local area, but they probably haven´t seen them doing this. While it won´t be the full profile that people will see in 2008, it promises to be something special. Then, to top it all off, we´ll put the best fighter aircraft the world has ever seen (the F-22) in formation with its World War I and Korean War equivalents in the form of a Heritage Flight. It´ll be a great visual representation of the Air Force´s 60th Anniversary `Heritage to Horizons´ celebration."
Static F-22A aircraft will also be available on the ground for public photo opportunities, and people of all ages will have the opportunity to get "up close and personal" to the latest Air Force aircraft.
"with a sneak peak into the 2008 demo season" and "it promises to be something special" sounds like Max will perform some more spectacular maneuvers in comparison with Point Mugu.

| I watched Max do a practice this morning...I firmly believe your going to see more at the Langley show than we have to date. At least he was practicing the advanced maneuvers anyways...Check |

My question: How are they going to A: Make the F-22 fly slow and stable enough for a formation with a WWI aircraft, or B: Make a WWI aircraft fly fast enough to stay with an F-22?
Ok, so the -22 can fly obscenely slow with a high AoA, so there is an option...but most korean war era fighters can't. Should be interesting. |

| When we going to see a formation of: P-51, F-86, F-100 (well something has to come between the F-86 and F-4), F-4, F-15, and F-22? |

They obviously mis-typed the WWI thing. Of course almost any Korean War era fighter could certainly fly at reduced speeds...the already are doing the Heritage Flights with them so I'm not sure why you would think that... |

They may have mis-typed WWI, I don't know. I'm almost guessing they had to have. But, some elaboration: IF it was a WWI aircraft, the F-22 most likely could slow down and use its high AoA capabilities to "hang" with a WWI aircraft. Whether the AF would allow such a thing is a different story. However, there aren't any Korean war-era jets that I know of, that could slow down enough, and safely fly formation on a WWI era aircraft- we're talking probably 60-70kts here. |

My reply should have been more specific. It WAS a mis-type and there are NO WWI aircraft flying heritage flights. So yes, the Korean war vintage aircraft flying in the heritage flights can fly slow enough to fly with the WWII aircraft.

Found a video of practice for next weekend and later demos I guess. I found it on FenceCheck. It looks like doing variations of the same move but it's ridiculous nonetheless.

Wow. Good to see them expand the envelope and show us what this baby can really do  Not that these are necessary aerial combat manuevers with its BVR capabilities but good to have for the leakers and our entertainment. |
