Hi everyone,

I believe some sqn have their f-16s fuel master switch (fwd cockpit) wirelock in open position. i think it has got to do with some incidents, where f-16 crash due to main fuel sov close while in flight.

But why does the aft cockpit do not require to be wirelock in open position (for dual cockpit)?

Thanks in advance Very Happy

Maybe because the IP sits in the back? I know at Luke the valves themselves were saftey wired open.

the switch itself is no longer safety wired open at Luke, and its not saftey wired in the aft cockpit so the IP can close it faster in an emergency i believe

Copper safety wire is not "safety wire" It is a seal or tamper detection tool.

True, front cockpit fuel switch is wired and the Aft is not not?

Take command switch up front IP in back?

Don't make sense, must just be an F-16 thing?

Thoughts

Guys, the fuel master switch, switch is the word, is copper safetied to prevent the pilot from mistakenly closing it in flight. The valve itself no longer has safety wire on it at all, this includes all blocks currently in use by the U.S. Air Force. As for the aft seat switch not being safety wired, why bother the guy in front has the control. Now the white valve with the red lever does not get push checked while the older model valve still gets the 1/4 to 1/2 inch push check.

I was talking to a Viper driver pal who told me they used to call it the "Christine switch."
