Have fun! Just found on USAF´s public main website:
Two larger than life 'Airmen' as inflatable puppets stand beside F-16C block 25 #83-1161 marked 61 FS, as one of the backdrops to Good Morning Arizona, a morning show remotely filmed at Luke AFB on March 22nd, 2007. The show featured demonstrations from different careers throughout the Air Force and helped promote Air Force Week.

Looks to me like PLAYMOBILE or LEGOLAND ... Nevertheless this picture should be adopted to our F-16 Aircraft Database as a photo proof of this aircraft as it is marked 61 FS. Over the weekend, I will upload some more new Viper pics from Luke. |

| Is it just me or does the whole thing(plane, hanger, and tower) look fake? I don't really remember the flight line at Luke looking like that. |

no... it isn't fake. it is just you. that is the Egress hangar behind the jet and the tower that was erected around 2001-2002. one thing i notice on this site... so many skeptics... it is difficult to keep count. |

| Skeptic? It was just a question. Only time I was at Luke was for HOT training then it was off to Nellis though in all honesty I wish I stayed at Luke. Base seemed much nicer plus from what I heard morale was way up there even with all the planes going down(I was there for that brief period in 2003) |

Do you get the impression that some of homeland defense is a farce?
My statement is somewhat true but I am trying to falsely associate it with the photo as a joke.
I had to do a double take on the F-16, for a second the covers made me wonder if the whole aircraft was inflatable. |

Hey AFN, don't feel feel bad. I was stationed there from 1978-1981.....it doesn't look anything like it did then. We worked out of trailers and the aircraft of the day were F-15's, F-4's and get this German F-104's, plus two T-33's that belonged to what was then called base flight. God I must be old........

I've seen these inflatable airmen at an airshow... very sad...
Who they trying to recruit? 3 year olds? They look like USAF 'Barney' (minus the purple color)
How many of our taxes were used for this?
Oh, by the way, we don't have money to buy spare aircraft parts, but check out our cool toddler show!?
You won't be getting a raise either, 'cause we're giving you new 'old' uniforms to replace the old 'new' ones that gave us a new image, that abandoned our heritage......Huh? This and new ABUs that look like pajamas with a Bat-Man utility belt and Marine hat! Not to mention the USAF advertisement on the T-shirt and boots that nobody can get because they're not black or desert...
Since almost everyone had DCUs why not just use them?
How much is this going to cost? Sorry I'm drifting off topic... |

Sorry Purple, I can't resist....
That was prior to the fall of communism, pre-9/11, 3 wars, 3 BRACs, 2 utility uniforms, 2 blues, 2 desert uniforms, TQM, Fit-to-Fight, and an RCM program ago...

Sad that what That Engine Guy stated in his first post has cost me a job (and one that I liked).

I was there 76 to 80 and worked out of those old trailers too...I was a triple nickle guy B-Shopper! Plus we had T-38's that were assigned to Luke but flew out of Willy AFB. I used to crew good old TAC 1 A/C 3108 which is now at the front gate on display now that makes me feel old.
Cheers,

Also from Circles around the U.S. to just U.S. and back to Circles around the U.S. for the Blues/Quality Air Force.
I also saw the toy recruiter's at the Air Show at DM to go along with the Air Force Boom Box on wheels. Funny thing is I left Luke in 98 and it looks nothing like it did when I left. You old timers would FREAK if you strolled by it today. Nothing but high $$ house around the place, and yes they are still complaining about the constant sound of Freedom (AKA Noise). |
