I have not been able to find a single picture on this site with any of the 56th TTW birds from MacDill (tail code "MC.") Are there some here, and I'm just not seeing them? There's <a href="http://www.f-16.net/f-16_photos_album67-photoaaa.html">only one pic</a> on here from the 31st TFW from Homestead (tail code "HS.") Does anyone know why?

Does anybody have any pics from either of these units that they could post? Florida got dissed hard core on this web site. The above pic I mentioned, a few from JAX & Eglin, and some nice ones from the 482nd at Homestead are about the only ones I've found.

PS: Somewhere, I have a nice B&W pic of an A model from MacDill, flying over the old Sunshine Skyway bridge (or what was left of it after the disaster) and if I find it, I'll post it on here. C'mon guys! Homestead, and Mickey D deserve some love too! Help a Florida boy out, eh?

I have a few in books, but I think the reason they are so scarce is that the disbanded both years ago. Even harder finding Homestead birds with the old ZF tailcode...

Anything perhaps you could scan & post? (hopefully?) (fingers crossed!) Wink Now, I don't mean to step on anybody's toes, but everybody (even the dudes who were stationed there) would have to admit that Hill's Vipers have been WAY over-photographed. I'm sure other units feel about them the same way the Eagle guys feel about Langley.

The F-15s of the 1st FW are the most over-photographed unit, probably in the USAF, with the exception of the 388th's Vipers. And for what? I know Langley was/is TAC/ACC HQ, and they do have the unique "FF" tailcode (First Fighter for those of you that didn't know) but how many MiG kills do they have? OOPS! Did I say that out loud?

Eglin's 33rd FW got the majority of the kills in Desert Storm, but just like Rodney Dangerfield, "They don't get no respect." Kinda the same way other Viper units must feel when they see a million pics of Hill's birds but hardly a one from their own. Oh well, I just had to rant about something today, and I figured this topic was as good as any to rant about. I'm sure I just pi$$ed off everybody that ever served in the 1st or the 388th, but trust me guys, it's nothing personal. It's the photographers that are to blame, not you guys.

But hey, back to what started this mess... If you do have any pics from the 56th TTW, or the 31st TFW, PLEASE post them here. They will be greatly appreciated, albeit if only from me. Very Happy

Hey TC I feel you. I spent 5 years at Spangdahlem in the 23rd Fighter Squadron, one of the wild weasel squadrons in the Air Force and the only pictures we ever saw in Code One Magazine or any type of publication for that matter were F-16's from Shaw AFB. When "wild weasels" were brought up it was always Shaw in the spotlight. I know that it had alot to do with them being stationed stateside therefore having more photo oppurtunities. But it would have been nice to get our jets out there in the limelight. So if anyone out there has any photos of spangdahlem jets, in fact any f-16 photos, let's scan 'em and get em posted.

Real easy for you operators / maintainers. Need fresh photos of your unit ? Call out the photo guy ( usually located under the Com Squadron ) and get photos taken of your birds and people.... ( you are after all the mission.... and they are support ) ( half the time the photo guy is the last one to know when there is some kind of exercise or flightline activity. ( Even if it is a small thing where you have to have a maintenance surge to get all the jets that can fly, up and ready, and the pilots get in them taxi them all out and back ) ( some kind of deployment practice forget what you call it ) ( even boring stuff like that makes for good photos ). Even better if it is in the morning or late afternoon when the light is more dramatic.

Yes aggressor, Shaw is another unit I was tempted to mention. Pics of their Vipers show up all over the place. You know it's funny though, when my dad was stationed at Shaw in the mid to late 70's, they had Recon Rhinos, a few Recon Voodoos, and RB-66s. To this day, it's hard to find very many pics of their jets (they were tail code "JO" at the time) although his bird did happen to be photographed for one of the official USAF lithographs. You know, the ones which you see in pretty much any AF office building. It's a shot of an RF-4 hitting a tanker. Since MacDill was the home of F-16 training, thereby being the first unit most folks would have gone, you'd think this site would be littered with pics from Mickey D. Surprisingly, there isn't a single one.
