According to the "Los Angeles Daily News", excitement is building for the Point Mugu Air Show this weekend at Naval Base Ventura County, with demonstrations scheduled by the Air Force Thunderbirds and the F-22A. "It's going to be the first public flight demonstration for the F-22 Raptor at this Navy base and the third in the United States," said Vance Vasquez, a base spokesman. "I think the public is really going to be excited to see it. I know I am."
The Point Mugu Air Show is free and is held at the ocean in Ventura County near the southern end of Las Posas Road, which can be reached from the Ventura (101) Freeway. Naval Air Station Gates 3 and 2 will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1, with flight demonstrations starting at 10 a.m. For more information call (805) 989-8786 or go to www.nbvc.navy.mil.
According to the NBVC website, the F-22A will come from the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron, Nellis AFB, Nevada. Associated is the following press release:
Quote:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RELEASE # 07-13
POC: Vance Vasquez 805-989-8095
Air Force newest stealth fighter jet to arrive for air show
Ventura County, Calif., March. 22, 2007…. The Air Forces newest stealth fighter the F-22A “Raptor” will arrive at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29 at Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, for NBVC air show set for Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1. Maj. Paul D. Moga, commander F-22 demonstration team from Langley AFB, Va., will be available for media interviews.
Maj. Moga is the only Raptor pilot qualified to fly aerial maneuvers. The NBVC air show is the first Navy air show demonstration by the F-22. The Raptor will perform maneuvers such as the "Mongo Flip," "J-turn," and "Pedal Turn," which showcase the unprecedented agility of the aircraft. Extreme slow-speed passes and maneuvers such as "The Cobra" are also part of the demonstration.
Despite the notable technological advancements, the Air Force reports that the F-22A will have better reliability and maintainability than any fighter aircraft in history. An F-22A squadron will require less than half as much airlift as an F-15 squadron to deploy, and the increased reliability and maintainability will require less manpower to fix the aircraft and the ability to operate more efficiently.
More than 80 F-22A models have been delivered, with the first overseas deployment to Japan completed earlier this year.
Interested media are requested to call Vance Vasquez, NBVC Public Affairs Office, at (805) 989-8095 by noon, Wednesday, March 28. A cell phone number should be provided in the event of a time change.
Anybody from our users who can visit this event? Aircraft identification and "hot shots" are wanted!
Note: According to "The Tampa Tribune", also this weekend an F-22A is scheduled to participate on the MacDill Air Force Base Airfest (<a href="http://southtampa.tbo.com/southtampa/MGBIM8T3UZE.html">details</a>). In this case the question is: flight demonstration or only a static display? |

| MacDill has no scheduled F-22 demo. Max will be at Point Mugu. I'd bet it will either be static or a flyover. Check |

From USAF´s public main website:
Vapor trails disperse in the wake of an F-22A Raptor from Langley AFB which performs for thousands at the 42nd Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Air Show in Point Mugu, on April 1st, 2007. This marks only the third time an F-22A has flown during an Air Show and the first demonstration at a naval base.

Thanks a lot for your hot info, personal cross-checked with Max! That´s simply great, checksixx! Should that mean showed in the photos is 05-4086 (currently "on loan to the 422nd TES")? Via PM, can/will you tell me a little bit more about your relationship to Max? I would be very grateful for any details, checksixx!
Meanwhile, Defense Visual Information Center (DVIC) added the following brand-new shot:
Vapor forms around a USAF F-22A Raptor as it flies over the 42nd Naval Base Ventura County Air Show at Point Mugu, April 1, 2007.

I'd be happy to PM you. As far as the aircraft goes...it belongs to Langley and is not on loan anywhere to my knowledge and also Max is assigned and stationed at Langley....Check |

| Those are some awesome pictures. I was TDY to Hill awhile ago and there were some Raptors there for what ever reason. All I got to see where a couple of touch and goes, but that was still exciting. I hope I get a chance to see this bird fly it's routine sometime soon. Meathook, didn't you say you live somewhere around Hill? |
