RoAF - Well, there was the chopper ( I did think it was that thing that fired at us), then the missile came immediately after it (chopper) appeared on the scope, whatever it was..it was on the way to us fast (I thought the two were connected) I don't know enough about those type choppers to know any better.
I never heard anybody on board say anything about it (after the event), my assumption was wrong then, but that missile came from somewhere almost at once, same direction , once we identified the chopper (seemed like seconds apart).
I am just glad it turned out the way it did...but thanks for letting me know that, I never questioned it since I was just worried about surviving it. But your explanation makes sense I guess, I never knew better, all I knew was we were in trouble. Thanks for the information about that.... |

Makes sense now.
Here's the helo I was talking about - straight below the pylon, between the 2 antitank rounds, there's the forward end of the SA-7.
Gazelles were used intensively in Bosnia by all sides (but mostly by the Serbs, Republika Srpska still has a few). Even if it wasn't the armed variant, they probably used it to coordinate their defences. Did the F-16 pilot get a kill for that - or not, since it was on the ground?
Anyway RIP for the fallen ones - they were doing their best to protect their land. |

So...that's what the damn thing looked like.
I wish I knew exactly what it was or where it came from but this will be a good photo to use as a reference only, you mind if I use the photo for discussion purposes? |

It's not my picture, author and copyright is stated on the bottom right of the picture.
Just for the record, this is Yugoslav AF helo, the ones used by Bosnian Serbs (Republika Srpska) wear a different roundel - but Yugo helo were also used in Bosnia for the Serb forces there. |

| Thanks, as far as the chopper kill for the Viper pilot, I am not sure how that would be classified (kill or not)..I would hope it would be |
