This has got to be hands-down the most-biased, most ignorant, utterly wrong-headed bit of journalism I have ever read. Read it and weep with laughter...

http://english.pravda.ru/russia/economics/88404-0/

I particularly LOVED this:

"Several weeks ago the heavily advertised JSF (Joint Strike Fighter), the main version of the American 5th generation combat aircraft, did not manage to fly to Japan due to technical reasons. The first international show off collapsed."

Damn! You are absolutely right, idesof! The Russian "Pravda" really mixed up well-known F-22 deployment news with the F-35. Very bad and simply stupid! But what are the really chances of a so-called Sukhoi 5th Generation Fighter?. Sukhoi is still alive only because there were some exports. But the Russian Air Force has no money to buy a huge lot of such aircraft.

And it's not just that they got the F-22 and F-35 mixed up, it's also that they make it seem like the deployment never took place, and the whole thing "collapsed", as they put it! And I agree that the Comrades just don't have the $$$ to pull off a true 5th Gen. aircraft. As if the minute detailing involved in shaping a stealth airframe were a matter of merely making it "look" stealthy. And then there is the maintenance, and the sensor fusion, and the maneuverability... The U.S. spent an unholy amount of cash to pull all of that off, and the Russians just don't have an industrial base equipped for that kind of effort any more. Plus there is the whole "Soviet" design philosophy, which doesn't know the first thing about finesse, and stealth design is all about finesse. Reminds me of their attempt at building a moon rocket. How many engines did that monster have? Like 36 or something? Of course, every time they tried to send it up, at least one engine failed, and then the thing would go totally off balance and crash (or blow up like a small atomic bomb on the launch pad, killing hundreds in the process). The Russians do somethings VERY well. They produce some of the world's most beautiful women, they have great caviar, they've got possibly the world's best novelists, but, sorry, complex aerospace engineering just isn't one of their fortes.

By the way, I see you are from Berlin. Watched "The Lives of Others" (Das Leben der Anderen) last night. Absolutely magnificent film, one of the best I've seen. Reminded me some of Milan Kundera. Ever read him? Also, do you hail from East or West Berlin? I must say that I felt horrible for East Germans watching that film: first the Nazis, then the Communists. My god. Talk about jumping from the frying pan onto the burner.

Yet their theatre is about as well off as their aerospace program. Anton Chekov and his whole Russian Realism movement was probable the worst bit of crap that I have ever had to read/experience.

I wouldn't sell the russians short so quickly. Yes it was a stupid article that sounded like propaganda of yesteryear. But the Russian are highly capable and innovative designers. When they get around to finally building it it will garner respect. (And they will pay for it with oil revenues)

The most deadly thing in the USAF and USN are it's quality people. When the Russians get a decent NCO school and learn the concept of taking care of enlisted troops and growing good leaders then I'll congratulate them. Until they get that figured out, they will always be second string. The most mature air arm flying Russian gear is India....by far. Laughing

I love that Russian wet dream picture to one side of the Su-47 shooting down the F-22 at basically no range. It's really funny. PRAVDA apparently translates out to "Truth" (according to a Russian professor we have here who lived there during the Soviet times) for all those who care. Truth my a$$, their version of truth maybe. Bunnies ain't dead yet.

I love self-proclaimed experts that bash things when there own bashing shows that that don’t have a clue what they are talking about.
LMAO
I love how their own article hangs themselves; LMAO I wonder how many people will be smart enough notice it.

Great post showing media bias.

In all fairness, Pravda is a Russian tabloid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pravda
Quote:
Pravda was a leading newspaper of the Soviet Union and an official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party between 1918 and 1991. This paper was closed down in 1991 by decree of President Yeltsin, but a paper with the same name is still in operation in Russia and the web based Pravda.ru, founded by former Pravda employees is now a tabloid-style Russian news source.
...so I don't think the article could be called journalism in the first place.

I'll say it again for those so biased they don't listen.

What a POS the SU-27 is right??? The SU30MIKi, etc. Ignorance is bliss until you get your a$$ kicked. I am in full support of the US (as a citizen) and the F-22, but stop being stupid. yes, it's a stupid article, but if and when the russians build something new, you'd better respect it.
