On any civil aircraft, you have to adjust Alt meter value when you cross transition ALT (US:18000 Korea:14000 Japan:14000, etc).
How do you adjust Alt meter value on a F-16? |

The pilots on the board can check me but I think it's also changed on military aircraft above FL 180 to keep vertical seperation in civilian airpsace. It's adjusted by turning the ALT knob on the altimeter. Above FL180 it's usually set to 29.92 (1013 mb for Europe) but for FL180 and below it's set to the altimeter setting declared by the controlling agency working the aircraft. |

| FL180... In europe it is most of the time something like FL050. In Belgium you have to start putting 1013 as from 4500ft. I'm a bit surprised to see such high numbers...Guess I should take a trip... |

| In Japan it's 14,000, as well as Korea. I like Japan's airspace as you can cancel IFR anytime, anywhere, at any altitude (provided you aren't popeye at the time). Also, there's no low-level corriders, simply a few no-fly rings. |
