I posted this in the general forum but more coverage yields better results at least that's what they say in markting class LOL
I was hoping you guys could give me some desperately needed info about a particular F-16 that was credited with a kill of an apache helicopter in OIF that was crash landed. This particular Shaw F-16CJ block 50 was called apon to destroy this downed chopper to keep it from falling in enemy hands...
If you are familiar with TwoBobs decals I am currently building a HAS 1/48 scale CJ with the twobobs OIF decals. That particular CJ from shaw's 77th fs is depicted. there is some limited info but I want to depict the ac just before takeoff on that mission. What I need to know is what weapon did the CJ use to destroy that apache? I would doubt highly that it would use a HARM as that is what they most typically carry. So what are my other load out options? Can the shaw CJ's carry GBU's, lantirn pods, JDAMS? would they ?? I need this info first as piece of mind but mostly beacause this model will be entered in a national model contest and I like my entries to have some historical accuracy. Thanks a million in advace guys.. AC# is 91-348

Ah, so you're the one that posted about this over at the ARC eh? Welp, CJ's can and did carry GBU-12's and JDAMs, as well as HARMs. If you look at IAPR Volume 9, it clearly shows this.

Hey habu,
I was hoping you would chime in, as you seem to be the resident knowledge base on the 16. Thanks for the info now if I can find a picture of shaw jets withthem I can have at least a little backing on the real thing, gotta love research.

Aye you people just push and push.....Razz

Actually, they only carried JDAMs, if you view the full image here, you can clearly see them. I made a mistake in saying they carried GBUs, sine where would you put the LITENING II pod, since that station is taken up bu the HTS pod for the HARMs?

So Far, Shaw carried HARMs, JDAMs and WCMD's during OIF, they got like 2 or 3 AAQ-14 pods a month or so ago, remember, there were no CCIP jets in OIF, only post, and the whole 77th isnt CCIP'd yet, only the 79th. The former 78th was, but they disbanned and became the 55th, and their old jets (78th) were moved to the other Sq's at Shaw. The 55th's Jets went to Cannon AFB.

Oh, you asked about Litening pods? Thats the 157th FS, Block 52's them and Mountain Home were the only CCIP'd CJ's in the whole war.

yeah, but McEntire is the only CJ ANG unit as well, Mountain Home had used Litening well IIRC, and they're AD CJ's.
