| Unfortunately it seems that these machines can't go out alone... always in threes. I am with you, Parrothead, I hope it is done. |

Has it been confirmed that the aircraft in question was a Block 52?
Does that Wing still have both Block 42 & 52 aircraft?
I'm wondering if it was a -220 or -229 engine?
Glad to see the jockies have been OK lately, lets all try to keep it that way!

| The article says it was a Weapons School bird, they have 42s and 52s, block 52 jets are -229s. Viper has 32s, 42s, 52s and when I left they were even flying some test stuff with a couple of 50s. |

| I saw the flame-out crash of 927. Pretty weird that a similar problem took down another Falcon (sorry I never agreed with them changing the name to Tomahawk) aircraft almost exactly two years apart. Coincidence, I know, but still creepy. |

Why on earth do they want to give the Thunderbirds block 52's? Don`t understand that these can't be better used in an active duty squadron?? |

This is interesting. I wonder what they will find. We have had two incidences where Block 50's have been stuck in mil or have lost control of the throttle. In both cases, the throttle cable broke. With the block 50's - they are the first ones where we took the wedges out coming through the bulkhead and at times it can cause a sharp bend above the landing gear at the aft bulkhead. I wonder what the investigation teammay find on this one.
If a pilot loses control of his throttle, today - he can ccyle his SEC switch on and back off and he should get control of the throttle through the electric throttle. He or she can control it even with a broken throttle cable. I would liek to see what caused this. This procedure is rather new in the -1, and I have seen instances where pilots have dead sticked a jet in and not used the proper procedures. With this being a Viper jet, thes guys are normally IP's and shoudl know the procedures.
I will be at Nellis in about three months and I am heading to the Strike squadron. I am sure after a short period there - I'll be heading to be the Viper superintendent.
