| GBU-12 is an LGB. Laser JDAM has been successful in tests and I think is approved now for production and delivery to units but don't know if any unit has received them yet. |

In the same manner that the press tags the word "Cessna" to most any light plane, the JDAM has been used so much that it seems every reporter will just insert it when they're told or read that a PGM was used. Fact checking? We don't need no stinkin' fact checking!!
Heck...even the af.mil story says "They were killed when the aircraft...dropped two laser-guided 500-lb joint direct attack munition (GBU)-12 bombs.." (emphasis mine). |
