Notwithstanding the political dog-fight underway, as reported, between USAF and DoD over the future of the Raptor production line status, and with some attempts to start closing it even, 1 month before the next admin is elected (which could determine it's fate, if left open), could a foreign contract for purchase/lease change the line's equation?
At last word, Israel is apparently re-attempting a Raptor request, and will do so next week with the Defense ministry director's visit to US.
Coincidentally (or conveniently), F-22s will be undergoing a rather significant 1 week exercise, from 6 am to midnight starting Monday, @ Langley AFB, training for combat op scenarios including operations while under chemical attacks..
I wonder if the minister will be observing any of these exercises? Your thoughts? Any influence over future status of continuing the line?
disclaimer: I would only support F-22 sale to Israel as response if Syria or Iran first acquired say Mig-31M, Su-35, or Mig-35. But major powers should discourage such proliferation of advanced fighter tech to region, imo. |

Yee-haa! another ORI!.... ...and congress thinks Raptors are a waste of money!?
ORE/ORI are the biggest waste of tax-payer money I've ever witnessed! Especially considering we're in the middle of a major conflict which has most units deploying with AEFs.
Why do we need to practice, and have readiness inspections like these when the inspectors could just watch/grade an ACTUAL AEF deployment? |

Silly TEG...don't you know that about 75% of what happens in an ORE/I has almost no resemblance on what really happens during a deployment/combat operation? |

That is my biggest gripe over the last 10 years. In no way do we train the way we have and will fight in the future. Its ridiculous. |
