I have the clock out of 455 that went down at Luke a few years back. It is just as useful now as it was before the crash. Even clock needles are all flat against the face and it rattles pretty good.

...since "Cabin Press" light is off, I don't find the need to check cabin altitude!

Mhhh, that's like saying 'I don't need the FTIT indicator, if something is wrong: the engine light will come on' or 'I don't need the airspeed indicator, as long as I don't hear the tone everything is ok...'

My point is, it doesn't cost me more than 2 sec to know my cabin pressure is ok, so why not take a glance at it... Some pilots like to calculate their final aproach speed just to check if the AoA indicator is correct (they tried to teach me that but I always forget it). Is that a waste of time? Does it make him a control freak?...I don't care, if it gives him/here that warm fuzzy feeling why not do it...

Well, it's not exactly the same thing... engine instruments may indicate a problem with the engine which is much more serious than a cabin pressure problem. The jet is not going to crash from a cab press problem! No comparison with airspeed indicator, also. Of course, checking the cab press while ops checks is the right thing, according to -1, and if you check it is good... but I personally never built this habit, maybe because of the majority of tasks Laughing Anyway that was a personal opinion.

yeah I know, I was just joking a bit...What I wanted to say was that checking cabin alt is not the same as using whiskey compass. Every pilot has to put his own priorities and off course this one is not as important as other checks. I think this is a habit I learned in my flying training on the a-jet. Instructors were realy strict on this, I even had to calculate if the reading was correct...it was a nightmare!

Gotta say no on the wrist rest - arm rest only, although as previously mentioned I picked up some big bruises by pushing off on it during BFM. Gotta hate those bloody knuckles from the spider guard too!
