Hi

Found this photo today

An F-16 pilot from the 18th FS signals from his aircraft prior to taking off for a training mission from Eielson AFB on February 8th, 2007.

Since when did the block 40/42's start carry the JHMCS helmets?

Not sure, but I know the test birds at Nellis have it.

The block 40/42 have been getting CCIP since early last year. That is the only external clue right now that a block 40 series has CCIP until the whole fleet gets it. They do not have the AIFF blades in front of the canopy so you have to look for the sensor poking up above the rail or a pilot with a helmet.

I saw one of the OTs with a LITENING on the R cheek station and an HTS on the L side....very cool.

Embarassed Sorry for bein' a little behind the curve here. Just what does said sensor look like and where on the rail is it mounted?

I have pics of a sensor on the left rail, I don't think there is a corresponding sensor on the right rail, but not sure.

That last pic shows an apparent lack of a sensor on the right rail.

I took the second 2 of the Shaw Demo Jet, and Duane Kaiser (Falcon53 on ARC) took the first pair.

(Slightly Off Topic) About 10 years ago I worked on this particular Turkish AF sim that had a head-steered visual display system and it used a gadget called "Flock of Birds" to track the pilot's head. When CCIP was first being fielded I heard a vicious rumor they were gonna use something similar to FOB, if not the same thing. Anyone in-the-loop know if that's the case? Just curious..

Yep, really cool. Even better with a Sniper and HTS.
