Hey guys, if you don't know what the fuel shop guys do on bigger planes, you can check em out on Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel). Its way different than working the viper. The show played a few times already, but they are still showing it a few more times. Here is the schedule.

I won't lie, I would have freaked out crawling into the wing tanks, to say nothing about the bladders. Hats off to the maintainers! Thumb

I have to admit that I can't watch the show - I'm on dialup for internet and I've got "rabbit ears" on the TV Wink . Just curious - what sort of protective equipment do you put on before crawling around in those areas? I just know that there's gotta be a whole bunch of fumes and some residual fuel Shocked .

Just a respirator and gloves. You can't really pack on too much stuff due to the fact that you are in a tight place. Yes, there are lots of fumes, but we try to give the tank a good purge beforehand. We usually wipe up the residual with some diapers. Its not too bad. Coming form the viper where we didn't do any of that, it took a while to get used to.

I saw that when it aired, all i could think about is "I bet those guys are pissed because they have to open this cell for some dam show" but I guess they where proud to show off what we do.
