At Langley´s public website, the 94th FS is still nicknamed "Hat in the Ring" (also dubbed "Hat-in-the-Ring Gang" on the same source). On March 3, 2006, Lt. Col. Dirk Smith, 94th FS commander, and Maj. Kevin Dolata, 94th FS assistant director of operations, delivered the first two F-22A Raptors to the 94th FS. These aircraft were serial numbers 04-4062 (marked FF 04062) and 04-4063 (marked FF 04063). But as official USAF photos clearly showed, both Raptors were painted with the "lo-vis" squadron name "SPADS". Only one of the related pictures:

Anybody who can/will clear up that?

Secondly: Some rare USAF hi-res shots of 27th FS Raptors clearly shows their "lo-vis" nickname, painted as "FIGHTIN´ EAGLES".

Anybody who can/will provide us some close-up shots of these (probably related to "stealth") "lo-vis" squadron insignias?

Sorry if I overlooked related info already posted on this topic!

The official name of the 94th is the "Hat in the Ring Squadron". The squadron dates back to WWI. Ace and CMH recipient Eddie Rickenbacker was a member of the squadron. They flew the SPAD. "Spads" is hence a shorter nickname for the 94th, and I believe this may be their radio callsign as well.

Hope this clears it up for you.

Here's a picture of a 27th FS Raptor with low-vis "Fighting Eagles" marking:
