This comes from the article talking about the F-35's recent promotional visit to Hill AFB:
Quote:
Guests for the demonstration included members of the 526th ICBM Wing, 84th Combat Sustainment Wing, 309th Maintenance Wing, 508th Aircraft Sustainment Wing, 419th Fighter Wing, 75th Air Base Wing, Ogden Air Logistics Center, and community and political leaders.
Now I know there wasn't actually an aircraft there, but tell me this: Why the hell does an ICBM wing, two combat sustainment wings (don't even remember what the hell they do- ABDR maybe?), a depot-level maintenance wing, the reserves, and the friggin MPF and finance folks (75th ABW) get to go check out what was there, but the people who will be the most hands on - the maintainers of the 388th - apparently aren't given the opportunity? Seems to me, it was one more instance of the "we don't give a sh*t about our people" attitude that seems so prevelant there....Not to mention the "community and political leaders" who do such a
wonderful job of supporting the base that six blocks from the main gate people say "are you in the army? What air force base? Is that why we always see and hear the airplanes?" (no kidding- that is what I got more than once if I was off base in uniform) Maybe I'm being bitter, but damn I hated that base.
