We'd planned a dining-in down at MacDill back in the late 80's, but it never ended up happening (don't recall why) although we'd all already gone out and bought white shirts and black bowties. Just so they didn't go to waste, on the day the dining-in had originally been scheduled for we all buttoned out BDU shirts up to the top and wore our bowties for the crew shows...

Hey, hey , hey. What happened to Rule Number One?

Rule Number One: What happens at a Dining In, stays at a Dining In.

I had the priveldge of attending the 50th AGS Dining In at Hahn. Our Pilots were invited. We had a WWII vet as key note speaker. The Blue Zoo Table was manned.

I learned of the many amazing things you can do in a Mess Dress.

Nuff Said.

Maddog - I cant believe you know Joe Cain - hell, we worked together on the 12th AF F-16 Demo Team (I was team chief) back at Luke in 1986. Hell, Joe and I talked about his assignment to Hahn often since I had been there too - what a small world, Joe left Luke a year later, I never saw him again - we partied our asses off on the road, he was a damn good crew dog - nick named him - Joe Main, when he got loaded, he could not talk for sh*t - his name sounded like Joe main when he was loaded so that nick name "stuck"...damn small world buddy - amazing, yep - that's Joe alright!

I had Joe in Korea a year or two ago and then lost him. Can you say Msgt Cain?

Here's another "fun" picture of Joe Main.

Guys

It may just be that our graduating class in re-currency training for the F-4 at Luke in 71-72 was the first Combat Dining In. But we called it a roast. It was with the Gals in civies and we roasted everyone from the Wing CO down through our IP's in the 311 TFTS giving them small momento's of cherished moments. To the Wing CO. B/G Freddie Hafner we gave another patch for his already overloaded flight jacket. To the DO who favorite expression was "Super" we gave a Superman patch. TO our favorite IP we gave a bag of Horse manure for all the crap he gave to us, and so on, and so on. Everyone had a reaL BLAST AND b/g Freddie thanked us for an unforgetable evening. And then it was off to war.
